​A new chapter is being written along the St. Clair River as Mahogany Bay prepares to open within the coming year, bringing a unique waterfront destination that celebrates the region's rich boating heritage while creating a welcoming gathering place for residents and visitors alike.

Located at 3592 Military Street in Port Huron, the 16,000-square-foot waterfront property features 400 feet of frontage along the St. Clair River and is the result of a vision first set in motion when brothers and business partners Mark and Hale Walker purchased the historic building in March 2021. Once home to Beebe's Boatworks, Bohn Aluminum, Gibraltar Manufacturing, and other industrial operations, the century-old structure is being thoughtfully reimagined as a destination centered around boating, dining, events, entertainment, and community.

Few waterways in America can claim a recreational boating legacy as significant as the St. Clair River. Industry pioneers including Chris Smith of Chris-Craft, racing legend Gar Wood, and renowned naval architect John Hacker helped shape the area's maritime identity, creating a legacy that continues to influence the region today.

"Boating is part of our DNA," said Mark Walker, Co-Owner of Mahogany Bay Landing. "The St. Clair River helped give birth to recreational power boating, and we believe Mahogany Bay can honor that history while creating something entirely new. Our vision is to create the first true entertainment refuge for small boaters north of Algonac's Flats - a place where families, friends, and visitors can pull in by boat or car and experience everything this river community has to offer."
 

A centerpiece of the development is a newly constructed harbor designed to accommodate visiting boaters, providing a rare stop along a stretch of river where waterside dining opportunities have become increasingly limited due to growing boat traffic and changing shoreline development.

​"From the beginning, we knew this project would require patience and a tremendous amount of work," said Hale Walker, Co-Owner of Mahogany Bay. "We're preserving the character of a remarkable historic building while creating a modern waterfront destination. Every phase of the redevelopment has been guided by a commitment to honoring the property's history and building something that will serve the community for generations."

When complete, Mahogany Bay will feature multiple experiences under one roof. The lower-level Dockside Bar & Grill will offer a relaxed, boater-friendly atmosphere with outdoor seating overlooking the harbor. Upstairs, Mahogany Bay Restaurant will provide an elevated dining experience that embraces the beauty of the river while remaining approachable for families, groups, and visitors. The property will also include a distinctive brick-lined event venue designed to host weddings, corporate events, celebrations, and community gatherings.

"Whether guests are arriving for a casual afternoon by the water, a memorable dinner with family, or a wedding celebration, we want Mahogany Bay Landing to feel welcoming and unforgettable," said Casey Harris, Hospitality Operations Manager. "Our goal is to create an atmosphere where great food, exceptional views, and meaningful experiences come together. We want people to feel connected- to the river, to the community, and to one another." Mahogany Bay will also serve as the home port for Nautically Disturbed, a boating lifestyle brand and club designed for people who share a passion for life on the water. Members will enjoy access to exclusive spaces, special events, and unique amenities within Mahogany Bay, further strengthening the property's vision of creating a vibrant waterfront community.
